Journey
I like to wander. Every path holds a new experience. I am drawn to natural materials such as stone, wood, rock, moss, and bone. The name "Turas" is an Irish word that means journey. The journey begins with an idea or object, transforms into a piece of jewelry or art, and continues onward with its new owner or guardian.
My Medium
I use many different mediums and materials, such as acrylics, copper, brass, silver, and fiber arts. I believe that working in a single medium is restrictive to my artistic process. Each idea manifests in its own individual style. I am continually learning and trying new techniques.
My Inspiration
Living in far Northern California, we are surrounded by coastline, redwood forests, an active art community and makers, crafters, gardeners, and artists. I enjoy hiking in my spare time and many of my pieces are directly influenced by these hikes in nature. I love working in the garden, and tending to my urban chickens and vegetables. A short drive from my studio is the beach, river, and woods.
